Brisbane Capital League
Samford Rangers will be competing in the Capital 2 League for the 2018 season after Promotion. The teams will be coached by Steve Forsyth and Matt McGarry for the 2018 seasons.
Steve Forsyth has had a long association with the Rangers as a player, parent and coach over the past 35 years and took our flagship team to the Premiership and promotion in 2017.
He brings an excellent knowledge of club football and game techniques, strong training and supervising skills, the ability to motivate and coordinate and recognize and work on players’ weaknesses and strengths.
Matt McGarry returns to the club in 2018 having previously worked with our City League teams and will be working closely with senior coach Steve Forsyth as we work towards the Clubs goal of Premier League football.
Training is on Tuesday and Thursday nights, starting at 7.00pm sharp. We are hoping for another exciting season of football at Samford Rangers.

Women’s City League
This year for the SRFC Women’s team we have built great relationships with our community and neighbouring clubs. We have had an exclusive talk with our sponsor and previous Firebird player Karen Brown about health and fitness and trained with the NPL coach of the Moreton Bay Football club Skie Hanifin with assistant coach Adam Sherman. Our club provides our team physio from the Movement Team based in Samford who provide core and strength sessions and support during our matches.
In our 2018 season, we have provided three city teams for the women’s league (3, 4, and 5). These girls have ranged between ages of 16 to 30+ years for both social and competitive reasons. We encourage girls interested in joining our team to not hesitate and contact our Woman’s coordinator Rebecca (firstname.lastname@example.org).
It’s been a long time since Samford had an U18’s team but this year with the assistance of youth Coach Robert Green we have been able to put together a team of exciting young players with the drive to develop as a team and as individuals. It hasn’t been the ideal season for the Youth squad with a few avoidable defeats leaving them middle of the table halfway through the season, with these defeats came education, the squad learning quickly that the sum of the team is greater than any individual and they are raring to take the rest of the season with 2 hands and make a real shot at finals football.
Development of Junior and youth footballers has been big on the radar for Robert Green (youth coach), Matt McGarry (reserves coach) and Steve Forsyth (Head coach) this year with a number of players from the youth squad making their senior debuts for the club. Goalkeeper Niel Hayes-Burnham stepping up to deliver some brilliant performances for the reserves squad as well as key midfielder Hugo Smelts and fullback Keith Green.
Along with pushing players through to the seniors, Robert has also frequently enlisted the help of some quality u16’s players such as Seb Woods and Clayton Timms who have slotted brilliantly into the youth team, putting in some great shifts and earning some important results for the squad.
Looking forward to next year Robert is hoping to see as many of his squad move on to play senior football at Samford however with most of the squad turning 17 this year they will still be able to play youth next season and with this in mind planning has already started for next year to develop a team of current youth and the emerging U16’s that have proven their quality in their own age group this season.
