It is with great excitement that I can announce the appointment of James Corner as Director of Coaching for Samford Rangers FC. The Committee has been in discussions with James since the early part of 2019 when the role was first advertised. We are confident that his experience, commitment and devotion to the role will assist the SRFC Committee in rolling out our Strategic plan in 2020.
James will be active immediately in planning & coordinating the Junior and Miniroos grading and trials for next season, as well as developing and delivering skills development programs aimed at furthering player development opportunities across our Miniroos and Junior Programs. His remit as DOC is also focussed on developing SRFC’s Miniroos & Juniors coaching capabilities & programs, with the aim of increasing opportunities for all SRFC coaches to develop their coaching skills for the 2020 season & beyond.
James spent his youth playing and coaching through the ranks of South Sydney community club, the Camden Falcons, with his Dad being one of the founding members. He went onto to play representative level in juniors and seniors for Macarthur FC (the new A League franchise in Season 2021). James has lived and played football across several countries in semi-professional teams and got a call up for the World Cup in 2007 to represent the Cayman Islands. James brings several years of coaching experience to the table, including the setup and running of youth football programs.
James has called Samford his home for the last seven years along with his wife Julie and their two young boys.
“I love living in Samford and to have the football facilities we have at Samford Rangers is quite simply outstanding. It is a testament to the Committee and club members of past and present who helped create such a great facility for our community. I look forward to working with the coaches and players as we establish their developmental programmes, from grass root development through to academy opportunities, as we continue to be the best club that we can be”.
Further details on the structure of the Football Operations team and plans will be communicated at the Club AGM in October. I encourage all members to come down and support your Club through attendance and participation.
I also encourage you as members and volunteers to engage with James and make him feel welcome as we drive towards our goal of supporting all players in the Rangers organisation. James can be reached on firstname.lastname@example.org and will be more than happy to take on your feedback, support or input.
On behalf of the Samford Rangers Committee, I wish James every success in his role!
