The Samford Rangers Committee are delighted to announce that Head Coach Steve Forsyth has agreed to extend his current contract at the club into a fourth season for 2019.
Returning to the Club in 2016 after Samford Rangers had endured some lean times, Steve has taken the senior squad to a new level that has included promotion in 2017 and successive Grand Final appearances.
Shaking hands on the contract extension, club president Mark Benson said, in addition to the sensational news on our club receiving it’s $2.7m field development grant from Clr. Grimwade, this is a huge boost for the club and the senior squad to have Steve extend his current contract with the club. Steve is a true Samford Rangers stalwart having been involved at the club for over 30 years, and has done a tremendous job getting the senior team playing some of the sharpest football in their division and provided teams in higher divisions with a real run for their money.
This seasons campaign sees our senior team well positioned for promotion again, whilst also putting BPL sides Taringa and Brisbane Knights to the sword in an impressive Cup run before bowing out to UQ.
Next season will also see our Director of Coaching, Yanek Pearce taking a more formal position supporting senior squad as he completes his C Licence along with his coaching team. Yanek has previously spent time working at youth level at Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL) and we will clearly benefit from his experience and expertise.
The club will announce further appointments in coming weeks with the senior coaching structure and also provide updates on timing of Yanek’s team completing their C Licences.
Steve is always looking to strengthen the squad and would welcome any highly motivated and ambitious players to consider getting in touch to discuss making our magnificent Parklands Complex home in 2019.
