We won the grant by encouraging members to shop at our local IGA, and nominating the club online to be eligible to win a share of $150, 000 in club grants. The competition ran for four weeks, every week 15 clubs were drawn, each winning a $2,500 grant. The more people who registered, the more chances the club had at winning – our victory was a team effort!
Andrew Faulkner from the local Insert Store name said, “It is so exciting to see a soccer club in our local community win one of the IGA Future Stars grants. As part of the Samford community we know that this money will make a real difference to developing up-and-coming soccer talent. We are proud to support clubs at this grassroots level.”
Supporting local communities is at the heart of IGA stores. Nationally, 1400 independent store owners have raised in excess of $70 million to support charities, disaster relief and other worthwhile causes.
