Following on from the AGM and the appointment of the new committee, we have been working through the best options that will provide coaching and development opportunities across all areas of the club.
As many of you may already know, the SRFC Committee has spent several weeks working to provide an enhanced financial offer to secure Rinichi with the club, however our offer was rejected prior to Christmas.
A pre requisite of the Technical Director position was to hold a minimum of a C Coaching Licence. During our negotiations we requested a copy of Rinichi’s C Coaching Licence. As this was not forthcoming, we contacted the FFA in Sydney and Football Brisbane and were informed by the governing bodies that Rinichi is not in possession of the required C Coaching Licence.
The committee therefore had to take legal advice to ensure that we were able deal with this matter in the best interests of the club, along with ensuring that all contractual matters were handled correctly. It is with regret that we must inform you that Rinichi Mikami has left the club.
The committee members both past, present and future work tirelessly on behalf of the membership, it’s sponsors and the broader community to deliver the best outcomes.
We ask for your understanding and support with the decision the committee has had to make. We have, at all times, operated in a transparent and honest manner, whilst maintaining the confidentiality of a contractual discussion.
New Coaching Structure & Plan
In light of this news the committee would like to deliver some immediate changes and we will looking to appoint 5 coaching positions. These coaching roles will consist of the following:
1 x Head Coach Coordinator (C license - paid)
4 x Assistant Coach Coordinators (paid development roles - sponsored by the club to attain a C license)
We are a community based club and therefore we are looking to recruit coaches into these roles from within the club where possible, as this will form part of developing a wider skill base from within. The new coaching structure will be paid positions and include the club sponsoring the successful candidates in being able to attain the appropriate licenses to ensure that the club and the coaches are operating to the National Curriculum for Coaching Standards, whilst spreading their time across all areas of the club.

Coaching & Development positions will report through to Mick Draper (VP Football Operations) who will provide clear direction on the objectives that the team will be required to cover across the season. These objectives include, but are not limited to:
- Development of the coaching plan for SRFC
- Coaching and development of junior teams / players
- Development of coaches and team managers as directed
- Developing fundamental game skills
- Holiday Clinics
- Development of a Samford Rangers Academy - available to internal and external players
- Summer Development Programs
- Junior Tournament Organisation
- Team Grading
- Attend Monthly Operational Meetings and provide feedback
- Support the Committee in the selection, appointment of club coaches
- Assist the club in the development of a club handbook for coaches and players
