Our own Ingrid Drynan has won the Coffee Club and Brisbane Roar's Australia's Favourite Soccer Mum contest!
Ingrid was chosen by having the highest number of votes through the official web site. Many thanks to all of you who voted for her!

Ingrid received over $50,000 worth of prizes, including a seven-seat Santa Fe all-wheel drive vehicle, tickets to every Brisbane Roar home game, a trip to see an away match and dinner with Roar players and their mums.
Mark Crane, another Samford Rangers member, was also a lucky winner on the night when he won the voter's prize - a Kitchen Connection kitchen valued at $20,000.
Thank-you to all of you who attended yesterday's Special General Meeting, especially to those who nominated for the vacant committee positions:
All committee positions are now filled and we are back to business as usual!
Lots to look forward to in 2010!
After having had an 18-month break from my last 3-year stint as President of Samford Rangers, I am back in the role for 2010 and looking forward to one of the most exciting years in the history of football (soccer) both locally, nationally and internationally.
2010 is a huge year for football. The greatest show on earth, the FIFA World Cup will be held in South Africa in June with both Australia and New Zealand having qualified.
But potentially even bigger than this is the decision on whether Australia is successful in its bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018 or 2022. This decision on both World Cups will be made in December of next year and with the game being actively followed by over 5 billion people all over the world, the benefits to our country would be enormous should our bid prove successful.
There are very exciting developments happening on the local front as well. It is terrific to see progress finally being made on Mt Samson road to provide access to the site of the new grounds at Samford Parklands. The Council is also actively preparing detailed plans of the new site so we are getting closer to realising our dream of brand new facilities for our club.
The club is not operational
All of us on the committee (Will Allan, Stephanie Boss, Mark Halle, Mick Phillips, Mike Smith and myself) are very keen and are enthusiastically preparing for the new season but we cannot do it alone. There are a few key committee positions yet to be filled and without them the club cannot successfully operate in 2010.
At the club’s AGM last month there were three positions for which no nominations were received – Secretary, Vice-President Seniors and Vice-President Juniors. The club simply cannot operate without these positions being filled. If these positions remain vacant will we have no option but to wind-up the club?
I suspect our members would never let such an unimaginable thing happen but I am concerned that the urgency of the situation may not be well enough understood and the assumption is that “someone else will put their hand-up”. The fact of the matter is that nobody has put their hand-up thus far and we have now reached the point at which we must fill these roles now or we won’t be in a position to start the 2010 season.
An urgent Special General Meeting will be held at the clubhouse on Richards Rd at 10am on Sunday the 20th of December 2009 with the following agenda:
I realise the date is very close to Christmas and the football season must seem far away for most of you but the reality is that lots of preparation needs to be done between now and sign-on day next month.
Even if you don’t think you are the person for one of these roles please come along to the meeting as a show of support for your club and the committee.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you wish to nominate for one of the vacant committee positions.
