I am very excited to announce that this week I have started a position with Football Brisbane as their Competition System Administrator. This unfortunately means that I have had to step down as Club President in order to avoid any perceived conflict of interest.
I cannot hold any committee position or decision making office within the Club whilst I work for FB, however I will remain involved with the club in other capacities such as organising sponsorship. I have also accepted a request from the Committee to remain as an advisor until the AGM where a new President must now be appointed.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for you, our members, as Club President. I am proud and fortunate to have worked with such a great group of people over the past 3 years to take the club forward to being run a little more professionally both on and off the field. I am especially proud of our Strategic Planning and the changes we have made in the coaching ranks in 2009 with the appointment of our Director of Football, creation of the Junior Coaching Panel and inception of Development Squads to improve the skills and game knowledge of all junior players. Solid foundations have been laid for the incoming committee of this club and I urge more members to get involved in 2009/10 to make the club a better place for your children and yourselves.
Apart from President there will be several other vacancies on the committee at this year's AGM, including Secretary, Junior Vice President, and Facilities Director. Please join me in thanking John Atkinson for his many years of service on the club facilities, Alan Newton for his tireless work as Secretary this year and Vice President Juniors prior to that, and Ian Johnson for his fantastic contribution this year as Vice President Juniors. Gents, your community thanks you for the contribution you have made to the improvement of health and well being of our children and adults alike in the Samford Valley.
Members!! It is critical that these positions be filled at the AGM or the club will simply fail to function effectively resulting in frustration you all. The people needed to fill these roles will not come from the current committee members so do not assume all will be OK. Please - if you are able to spare some time, feel a drive to do some community work, want to improve the club for your children then get involved with the Committee of the Club. It is a very fulfilling past time and positions can be tailored to suit the amount of time you have available.
You are more than welcome to come to the next few committee meetings (3rd Monday of each month @ 7.30pm @ the club) to see what is involved, talk to current committee members or call any one of us directly. You won't regret your involvement. Thank you again for having me as your President, Graham Lee.

The Strategic Plan for Football Operations has been prepared following a review of the current status of the Samford Rangers Football Club. This review involved observations of current coaching, teams performance, discussions with members and committee members. It is intended to give visibility of the future direction of the football operations of the club. Progress against this plan will monitored by the Club committee, who has approved this document. The document is live and may be altered as conditions/situations change.
Two new coaching drills have been aded to the coaches' area of the website (need to login first).
The drill document is a simple passing drill based upon a drill demonstrated by Sheffield Wednesday academy coach, Neville Burberry, at a recent coaching conference attended by the Junior Coaching Panel and Seniors Coach Steve Faulkner.
The second document is a Coach Support document which provides help on how to set up a coaching session, what to include in the session and why. It then gives guidance on how to evaluate the success of your planned session.
Coaches are strongly encouraged to read through the document and if they have any questions they should be directed to the Director of Football, Will Allan, or ask him when you are next at the ground.
Please check back to the website soon for information on an upcoming coaches meeting for direction on what to coach at what age groups and how the coaching should be conducted for our Junior players at Samford Rangers.
