Football Brisbane are introducing under 16 and under 18 competitions for the first time in 2008. This offers the opportunity for our under 15 and under 17 teams from last season to play together once again rather than having to move-up to under 17's and seniors respectively - we hope to see you all back again this year!
The 2008 season sees the introduction of two new major initiatives for Under 6/7/8 teams. We will be conducting in-house competitions (our teams play each other rather than other clubs) for all Under 6/7/8 teams which means all of our games will be played at our home ground apart from one or two fixtures to be played at Dayboro who we have invited to participate in our in-house competition. The other major change for these age groups is the introduction of a Football Australia initiative called SSG (Small-Sided Games). More...
You get to work outdoors, enjoy excellent pay and you get to work with great people you have something in common with – why not give refereeing a try?! The club will pay the initial set-up costs ($100 for the Referee's Course Fee + the first year's registration fee) and the only pre-requisite is that you must be 12 years or older. Towards the end of 2007, we urged club members to consider taking-up a committee position after the retirement of a couple of long-standing administrators and the need for a larger committee to match the significant growth we have experienced in recent times.
Thankfully six club members have offered their services for the first time in 2008 including Stephanie Boss (Treasurer), Graham Lee (Vice-President Seniors/Over 35's), Rob Ferguson (Vice-President Girls/Women), Alan Newton (Vice-President Juniors (U11-U16)), Mark Halle (Vice-President Rooball (U6-U10)) and Marc Hoffman.
These people join re-standing committee members Ray Campbell (Secretary), John Atkinson, Lyle Gray, Cathy Crabb and Vicki Reid. With a number of Vice-Presidents to share the workload, Mike Clahsen has reconsidered his options and has volunteered as President once again in 2008.
After 35 years, it's time to celebrate! Samford Rangers was formed around 35 years ago and on Saturday the 10th of May 2008 we will be having a reunion of past players at our home ground in conjunction with the senior team's local derby with Pine Hills. Samford Rangers will be participating in the Under 14 and Under 15 Brisbane Junior League Competitions in 2008. In readiness for the new season, our Directors of Coaching, Garry Bromfield and Arno Tretter, are conducting trials at our ground from 5:30pm on Thursday the 17th, Tuesday the 22nd and Thursday the 24th of January 2008. All existing Samford Rangers players and any new players to the club are most welcome.
