DAVE GALVIN APPEAL

There is always one constant in this great community of ours at Samford and that's the spirit to get in and help when it's needed. That's how I came to meet one of our true great locals Dave Galvin. Dave became involved with the Scout Association and has been leading, instructing and passing on his wisdom to our children in the Samford Valley for the last 8 years.

Dave was always larger than life, getting involved and helping our daughters and sons learn about camping, getting on together, team work and instilling a sound moral compass. A few years ago his son Dean was a member of Samford Rangers with both Dave and wife Renee always attending his matches and assisting with jersey washing, bringing oranges etc.

So it was a great shock when I learned that last September school holidays, Dave had an accident in Tallebudgera Creek where the family goes camping each year. His daughter was on hand to raise the alarm but Dave suffered damage to his spine that has left him a tetraplegic and is still in the PA Hospital. He may never walk again and his greatest wish is to come home to be with his family and watch his two children develop into young adults.

So to help us give back to him and grant this wish we are appealing to the community for help in the form of various fundraisers and donations. Samford Rangers has kindly come to the party by setting-up this facility for the community to make online credit card donations. All funds raised will go directly to Dave's family for some much needed renovations so he can have wheelchair access in the family home.
