Contact details of Coaches and Managers from other teams (in the event that you wish to borrow players, arrange friendlies, combine training sessions, etc.) can be found on the Members Only area of this web site.
Please contact the relevant Vice-President to arrange a time to finalise any outstanding paperwork.
Coaches and Managers are urged to carefully study the appropriate Rules of Competition for their team as failure to comply could result in Football Brisbane imposed fines and/or, for competitive (U/11+) teams, loss of competition points or missing-out on a place in the finals.
According to Football Queensland's Player Age Policy/Form, any player playing above their age group must have a Player Assessment Form signed by a parent and by the club's DOF (Director of Football), Will Allan, before taking part in any training or games. Note that this also includes players in your team who may make themselves available at times during the season to fill-in for a team in an older age group.
It is recommended that you keep spare copies of the form in the event that you wish to borrow a player from a younger age group and that player's parent(s) have not already signed this form.
Please be aware that a player may only play up one age group. For example, an U11 player can only play U12. Players are not allowed to play down, unless in exceptional circumstances.
Managers are encouraged to develop a roster at the beginning of the season so that parents/guardians are aware of their obligations to the team with respect to washing the team’s jerseys and supplying fruit at half-time. You are welcome to download this Template Team Roster and modify it for your team.
Samford Rangers encourages acceptable behaviour at all times from all participants. Click here for our Codes of Conduct for Players, Coaches, Administrators, Officials, Parents and Spectators.

The club has invested in some POW (Player of the Week) Trophies for those teams who wish to select a Player of the Week each week for their team (mainly intended for Rooball teams). The intention is for the player to take the trophy home for a week and return it in time for the next game. A POW Certificate can also be awarded to players in addition to, or instead of, the POW Trophy. Click here for a sample POW Certificate.
Rooball (U/6 - U/10) Referees are provided and paid for by the club for all home games. These referees are our own junior players aging from 12 years old and we ask that all coaches and managers keep a watchful eye over them as far as abuse from spectators and/or opposing coaches is concerned.
For competitive teams (U/11+), referees are provided by Football Referees Brisbane. Referees are to be paid by the home team for senior men and women and the cost shared equally between the home and away teams for juniors. Managers are to collect equal amounts from parents to cover the referees' fees. Click here for the schedule of referee fees.
Coaches are encouraged by the Club to attend Football Queensland Coaching Courses and will fund the cost of such courses completed successfully. Coach Education is one of the cornerstones of the club philosophy of improving the football education of our players. There will be coach education sessions held throughout the season, both in-house and external. These will be advised to coaches well in advance.
For advice on training or team set-up, please contact our Director of Football.
The FFA provides a wealth of materials for coaches on the Coach Education Program Resources page of their web site.
Samford Rangers has a strong focus on player development rather than a "win-at-all-cost" approach to the game. Winning is important but it is not the emphasis of the coaching during training or game day. In keeping with this philosophy we strongly advocate equal playing time for all junior players. Remember all Players pay the same fees and are entitled to their value for money!
Coaches and Managers of Under 6 to Under 10 teams must ensure that all players receive equal playing time for each and every game. The only exception is where a player is injured or does not want to play for whatever reason.
Coaches and Managers of Under 11 to Under 16 teams must ensure that all players receive equal playing time over the entire season. These age groups differ from the younger players because in some games, due to the superiority of the opposition, one or two players may struggle to compete which could lead to a loss of confidence or, worse still, a risk of injury. This may cause the coach to give greater playing time to some players for these games with the time being made-up for the others against weaker opposition.
The only exception is where a player:

The club coaching philosophy can be accessed here. This philosophy mirrors the FFA National Curriculum, where the emphasis is on technical skills from the U6 to U11 age groups. From U12 to U16 age groups more emphasis is placed upon game awareness and tactical training. From U16 to U18 tactical knowledge and game maturity are the key drivers.
