Club Coaching Update:
Whilst we continue to search for a long term solution to the vacant Director of Coaching role – we won’t be operating with an acting Director of Coaching. Our aim is have this roll filled toward the end of this year in preparation for what we would expect to be a massive 2020 season for the club. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Tom McGrow for his time as acting DOC.
The purpose of asking Tom McGrow into the acting DOC role was to leverage his experience and capability in order to:
a) Navigate through the junior trials and grading process smoothly.
b) Set the teams up, and provide adequate coaching support to teams for the beginning of the season.
Thanks to Tom’s leadership and the support and considerable effort of both Jason McKee and Dave Greenfield it is my view, and the committees view that, given the circumstances, we did a very good job reaching positive outcomes for these two principal objectives. Certainly the performance at the start of the season of our junior and miniroos teams has been overall excellent.
In the interim – whilst we search for a new DOC, it is the intent that the coaching coordinators collaborate with myself to come up with a strategy where we can best use the resources we have available to support the day to day coaching at the club.
Breaking News: We can announce that we have made initial plans to work more closely with Moreton Bay United – to share their experience and significant capability in developing youth and coaching excellence. Commencing in June there will be sessions run by Moreton Bay United – by their Technical director and SAP (Skills Acquisition Plan) coaches – that we will be inviting interested team coaches to attend.
We are also talking to Football Brisbane and Football Queensland about the provision coaching courses and I hope to lock in some dates for that also.
For now, any enquiries to the Director of Coaching should be directed to Bryan Clasby.
